This fall, Hamilton will be playing in Richard Rodgers Theatre, the highest rated venue of New York as well as the greatest possible theatre for this world-wide phenomenon show. The acclaimed and multi-award winning show goes on to tell its smashing tale from town to town all over the globe.

It's off Broadway in 2015, The Musical was not instantly the Broadway smash that it is today. Lin-Manuel Miranda has spoken candidly about its beginnings, starting as a concept album in 2009, with Miranda saying that he was “thrilled that the White House called me tonight, because I’m actually working on a hip-hop album. It's a concept album about the life of someone I think embodies hip-hop: treasury secretary Alexander Hamilton.” That singular performance resulted in praise and a well-earned standing ovation from the audience at the time, including former President Barack Obama and First Lady Michelle Obama, and has led to Miranda’s creation of the Hamilton musical we see now.

With his background in musical theater, Lin-Manuel Miranda has also found influences from other award-winning theater pieces such as Les Misérables, which follows a similar theme that tells the story of a struggle, and triumphing that struggle, instead of the usual musical theatre biases that follow the trend of being very uplifting and happy. Similarly Hamilton, being about the struggle of an orphaned immigrant from the Caribbean who climbed the ladder and became the first American Treasury Secretary. With the utmost respect to its source material, the Musical shows us both the good and bad in Alexander Hamilton’s rise to power, by not only showing us a glimpse into his character and struggle, but also his influence and effect in being able to powerfully shape America over that time.

With its story, the show continues to display its importance in popular culture and even on the international stage, confronting questions and challenges that are deeply relevant not only to the Country, but also globally. Even the use of musical styles of hip hop, jazz, and R&B as the productions score has cemented its place in pop culture, making it one of the most exciting hit New York musicals today.
