Making its first appearance in in 2015 and running for almost a decade, Hamilton shook Broadway by storm with its fresh approach. Based on Ron Chernow’s biography about Alexander Hamilton, we learn the journey of Alexander Hamilton’s humble beginnings and rise to power as one of the Founding Fathers of the United States. A unique story that is both founded in truth and clever, Hamilton has been hailed as revolutionary in its storytelling that has left its mark on politics, culture, and education.

Written by American composer and writer Lin-Manuel Miranda, famous for his numerous accomplishments in both Broadway and film, also creating the music and lyrics for previous Broadway play In the Heights, another Tony award-winning showcase, and is also responsible for the music and lyrics in popular musical movies such as Moana. This hit musical, featuring a diverse cast, has showtunes in a style that blends new genres like hip hop, jazz, R&B, which has made Hamilton all the more revolutionary and engaging by showcasing these genres to the stage. Broadway hits such as “Satisfied”, “Wait For It”, and “You’ll Be Back”, have become loved by many as Broadways best memorable songs from the musical since its Broadway debut. Lin-Manuel Miranda has attributed his music inspiration for Hamilton to become top rap and hip-hop rappers of America, finding a way to unite the different genres together, something that was unheard of! The score of Hamilton are praised heavily by New York critics alike, compared to the other Broadway shows produced today, Hamilton proves to be more fast-paced and lively than others.
